What they look like

Zebra sea bream are easily recognisable by their silver body marked with bold dark vertical bands running across their sides. These stripes give the species its common name.

They have a deep, laterally compressed body with a pointed snout and strong jaws adapted for feeding on hard-shelled prey. Their colouring helps them blend into rocky reef environments when viewed from a distance.
