Corralejo Natural Park is one of the largest dune systems in the Canary Islands, stretching for several kilometres along the coast.

Corralejo Natural Park is one of the most iconic landscapes in Fuerteventura, known for its vast sand dunes, open beaches and views across the ocean.

Located just south of Corralejo, the park is easy to reach and offers a unique mix of desert-like scenery and coastal beauty.

Visitors can expect a mix of sand dunes, open beaches and wide, undeveloped landscapes.

A landscape of shifting sand

The dunes stretch for several kilometres along the coastline, constantly shaped by the wind.

Fine white sand forms rolling dunes that rise and fall towards the sea, creating a landscape that feels more like a desert than a typical beach.

Beaches along the dunes

Alongside the dunes, long sandy beaches run parallel to the park, offering plenty of space to relax, walk or enjoy the water.

The contrast between the bright sand and the deep blue ocean makes this one of the most visually striking areas on the island.

Many of the beaches here are considered among the best beaches in Fuerteventura, thanks to their wide open space and natural setting.

Some areas are also suitable for swimming, depending on conditions, and are often included in guides to the best beaches for swimming in Fuerteventura.

Walking through the dunes

Visitors to Corralejo Natural Park can walk freely across the sand, exploring the ever-changing shapes of the dunes.

The open landscape makes it easy to find quieter areas away from the roadside access points.

Conditions: heat and wind

The open landscape of Corralejo Natural Park means there is very little shade, and it can feel especially hot under the sun.

Wind is also a constant factor in the area, often blowing sand across the dunes and beaches. On stronger days, this can make walking more challenging and reduce visibility slightly.

Filming location

Corralejo Natural Park has been used as a filming location for international productions, thanks to its vast, desert-like landscape.

The landscape has even been used by major film productions.

Scenes from Exodus: Gods and Kings, directed by Ridley Scott, were filmed here, using the dunes to recreate dramatic desert environments. Parts of Wonder Woman were also filmed in the area.
