FUERTEVENTURA AND FAMILIES
This may seem like a sleepy little Island, and when compared to the other Canary Islands, is a lot less commercialised. No we don’t have high rise building and high speed trains and to be honest we don’t want them. What we do have is one of the best climates in the World, miles and miles of sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, great people and an array of things to do and places to go.
The Canarian people love children and welcome families with open arms. Some hotels on the island offer all inclusive options for families that want to budget, and others an adult only experience where an age restriction applies, but in general children are welcomed and catered for in most establishments.
PACKAGE HOLIDAYS AND PRIVATE RENTALS
Some families opt out of the traditional package holiday and choose to rent a private apartment or villa instead, as getting around in Fuerteventura is so easy. In addition many of the rental owners have filled the rooms with all the mod cons from home, like games consoles, wifi, DVD players, bikes, table football and alike which gives mum and dad a chance to relax too. This option means that meal times are not restricted and fussy eaters don’t have to worry, also having your own private or communal pool is a really special treat. But the island in general is a family friendly choice and the resorts and hotels are well catered to ensure you have a fun family holiday, irrespective of where you stay and what times you want to eat.
FAMILY ATTRACTIONS
The main attraction is of course the beaches and there is endless amounts of sand for building the perfect sandcastle. If you need a few pointers then pop down to the beaches at night and watch the local sandcastle artists at work. Camel rides on the beach are also good fun and make for some great camera moments. Getting wet or sporty usually goes down well with older children and for that there is the Water park, snorkelling, glass bottom boat rides, scuba diving, submarines, pedaloes, catamarans, sailing , body boards, horse riding, kite and wind surfing, surfing, fishing…. and even a 6D Cine, Virtual simulator! the choice is endless just decide what you fancy doing, book some lessons and have a go.

THE ESSENTIALS
In most resorts all amenities are right on your doorstep so its not too far to go for that emergency ice cream, nappy or baby changing room. The supermarkets are well stocked and many offer the local brands that you will be used to and there are specialist British shops for those tastes of home that you miss. Each resort has pharmacies and English speaking doctors and dentists, just in case and the people are very friendly and willing to help out. Most of the resorts have play areas, with climbing frames and swings where they can burn off some of that endless energy, little trains to take you around the resorts, trampolines, go karts, buggy rides, quad bikes, tennis courts, mini golf, bike hire, car hire with baby booster seats, tourist information centres and of course you can always pick up your free copy of The Voice Magazine which is stuffed full of ideas, maps, information, telephone numbers, advice and information to make your holiday experience all that much more enjoyable.
