Spicy, Goat Curry, Recipe

Here is Fuerteventura Itโs usually hot outside, so we may as well add a little heat to our meal times too.ย
For many, it does not matter what the weather is like outside as something hot and spicy is always a welcome treat. But for others, the hot weather makes them reach for cold and lighter foods instead, such as salads, soups and lighter proteins like chicken or fish. They usually do this as they think it will cool them down, when in fact eating spicy food is actually a far more effective way of helping to bring down your core body temperature.ย
Heating Upย
Drinking or eating something cold and refreshing is a great way to make you feel cooler quickly, but it is only a temporary solution and will actually make you hotter in the long run. This may sound like an old wives tale, but it is actually true. When we ingest something cold, especially something icy cold, our internal body temperature cools too quickly and our bodies natural reaction is to compensate for the rapid drop in temperature and heat up. This results in your actually feeling hotter than you did in the first place. However, if you eat or drink something hot, your bodyโs natural reaction is to cool you down. ย
Cooling Down
When we begin to overheat, whether that be by being out in hot temperatures, being nervous or exercising, our body deals with this sudden rise in body temperature by increasing our circulation and forcing us to sweat. When we do this, heat is expelled from the body in the moisture that evaporates, much like a dog panting, but through the skin instead of the tongue. So when we eat spicy foods, we are again tricking our body into thinking we are overheating, so its natural cooling down method kicks in. This again causes us to sweat and cools the core body temperature down, so its effect lasts for much longer than just drinking a cold drink.ย
Spice is nice
So if you want to cool down and stay cooler for longer, then maybe something hot and spicy is the answer, And that is just what we have for you here! Begin by seasoning the meat with the salt and pepper.
Next, take a large pot and add in the oil. Place over a medium heat. Once the oil is hot enough, add in the goat meat and sautรฉ until it begins to go nice and brown on the outsides.
Next, add in the curry powder and continue to cook for about two minutes then add in the garlic, white pepper, onions, thyme, tomato paste, spring onions and chilli pepper and cook for about a minute, stirring continuously so that all the meat is nicely coated. Take care not to burn the garlic.
Pour in the stock, so that all the meat is covered. Add a little extra water if necessary. Bring to a boil and then turn down to a low heat, cover and simmer for about 2 hours.
Stir occasionally and add extra water if needed. 20 minutes before you are ready to eat, add in the potatoes. Allow them to cook for 15 to 20 minutes (longer if you want a really thick consistency). When they are ready, give everything a good stir, season and serve piping hot
