Mouth-watering Mocktails

Sticking to a healthy eating plan and maintaining a healthy social life at the same time can be challenging.  More often than not, a get together usually involves a drink or two, and is a sure fire way of ruining any diet. But there is a way of combining the two.

The celebrity world’s obsession with staying slim and healthy has lead to a whole new wave of delicious and non alcoholic drinks known as Mocktails. These drinks are the next generation of soft drink, and the choices are staggering. You are no longer restricted to ordering an orange juice to stay tee total, now coladas, daiquiris, nojitos, crushes, spritzers, zingers and fizzes are also on the menu, and you can enjoy all of them completely guilt free!

Mango Mockolada

(Serves 2)

Ingredients:

·         2 large mangoes

·         1/2 tin of cream of coconut

·         1/2 tin of coconut milk

·         2 limes

·         6 large ice cubes

Directions:
Slice two pieces of mango, and lime and keep them for decoration. Peel and chop the mango, then add it to the cream of coconut, coconut milk and lime juice in a blender and puree until silky smooth. Add the ice and blend until the ice is really fine. Pour into two glasses, garnish with mango and lime slices; then serve immediately.

 

Strawberry Daquiri

(Serves 2)

Ingredients:

·         4 large strawberries, stalk removed

·         8 tablespoons caster sugar

·         2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

·         360ml of chilled lemonade

·         6 cubes ice

Directions:

Put the strawberries, sugar, ice and lemon juice into a blender and blend until the ice begins to form a crushed and fine consistency. Then add the lemonade and blend for a further 10 seconds. Pour into glasses and enjoy!
